Hello, there! So, last weekend I went away to Bandung, West Java with my favorite people in the world: the two high school best friends. We have been planning this trip forever but never actually have our schedule met until I decided to buy train tickets one month in advance to force ourselves going this time, and we did.
We took the first train from Gambir station in Central Jakarta to reach Bandung by 9 am. Daily shuttles from Jakarta to Bandung are available at every hour but none of their windows can give you this:
As soon as we arrived, we were picked up by our rental driver. Our first stop was the most-Instagrammable spot in the north: Dusun Bambu Leisure Park.
Dusun Bambu offers various range of activities from simply walk around in their garden or even go camping, hiking, and archery. We spent most of our morning walk around and taking selfies around the beautiful flower garden.
Oh, we did try the archery as well, I was so sh*t at it. As much as I wanted to hike further up, one of us is pregnant so we had to take the day easily. I heard you can also feed reindeer here, if you so wish. Although you may want to take ojek, or motorcycle taxi to get there since walking would be quite far – at least according to Indonesian standard.
We had lunch at the food court, where you would have to exchange your money into paper money that you can use at each stall. I felt like my mother was asking me to go shopping with monopoly money. The ‘money’ are available in 2500, 5000, 10000, 20000, and 50000 notes and they are nonrefundable. The best way to do it is to spend all you have. We shared siomay Bandung, lumpia basah, pempek lenggang, and mini martabak manis for the three of us.
We then walked down to ‘Sampan Sangkuriang’, a mini-lake surrounded by little huts, where visitors can go and rent the boat for IDR 10,000. Anyway, I didn’t see the point of riding a boat in such a small lake.
As a first timer, I found Dusun Bambu Leisure Park to be leisurely (*duh). I meant it was a nice little escape, and coming from Jakarta, being able to walk around in a garden with blue sky and natural breeze is sadly…a luxury.
I’d say though the park was made more for children to play in the nature. My suggestion though, if you come here at the weekend, be here early. By the time we left the park at 12:30ish, the queue was super long and cars were packed in the parking lot.
